Rubrik introduces Turbo Threat Hunting: a feature that promises to help organizations identify clean recovery points faster after a cyberattack.
Prevention is always better than cure but when you do fall prey to cyber criminals, quick recovery is crucial. Cybersecurity company Rubrik has developed Turbo Threat Hunting to assist companies in recovering their systems after cyber attacks. With this new feature, organizations can scan up to 75,000 backups in less than 60 seconds. This process allows them to quickly find recovery points that are free of malware, minimizing operational disruptions.
A recent report by Rubrik Zero Labs found that 60 percent of IT and security leaders are concerned about business continuity during a cyberattack. Traditional methods of identifying clean backups can take days or even weeks. Turbo Threat Hunting offers an alternative that is not only faster, but also reduces the risk of human error by leveraging metadata and automated analytics.
Three functions for fast recovery
The new feature uses pre-calculated hash values in Rubrik’s metadata. This eliminates the time-consuming process of file-by-file scanning. Turbo Threat Hunting additionally offers the ability to:
- Isolate rogue files: Metadata shows details about infected files, allowing users to quickly select safe backups.
- Multi-cluster scanning: Identify clean backups by scanning multiple clusters and environments simultaneously.
- Full data analysis without disruption: perform IOC scans across all workloads without impacting production operations.
The functionality is currently available in beta for customers with Rubrik Enterprise Edition and cloud solutions. General availability is scheduled for the end of January 2025. With this development, Rubrik aims to reduce the impact of cyber attacks on businesses by providing fast and reliable recovery capabilities.
