Palo Alto Networks conducted a survey of 450 European managers about cybersecurity issues.

Companies in Europe consider technological complexity and poor integration of security solutions as their biggest cybersecurity problem. This is according to a survey by Palo Alto Networks among 450 European managers and security professionals.

Too many Solutions, Too Little Collaboration

According to the survey, 55 percent of respondents say that complex technology and a lack of collaboration between security tools pose their biggest challenge. Additionally, 35 percent experience that the abundance of vendors and solutions leads to blind spots in security.

This fragmentation hampers the operation of security teams in Europe: half of the surveyed managers state that their teams can respond less effectively to threats. Also, 47 percent feel increased work pressure among employees. Moreover, the fragmentation leads to additional costs for training and licenses, according to 45 percent of participants.

The majority of companies want to address this situation. 92 percent of the surveyed managers indicate that they want to simplify their IT stack by 2025. 91 percent are open to an integrated platform approach. Yet today, only 39 percent of companies have consolidated their security solutions into a single platform.

AI Gains Ground, but Remains a Risk

Despite the complex environment, confidence in the current approach remains high. Many respondents say they use clear metrics to evaluate their security. Additionally, 83 percent indicate they are already using AI efficiently in their strategy. However, two out of three participants see AI-driven attacks as the biggest risk for 2025.

Palo Alto Networks states that a platform approach is becoming increasingly important to reduce complexity. By integrating systems and managing information centrally, organizations can respond faster to threats, including new and unknown attacks.
