Salesforce has reached an agreement with AI company Informatica regarding an acquisition. It is one of the largest acquisitions by Salesforce.

Salesforce announces that it has reached a definitive agreement to acquire Informatica. Both companies had been linked to each other for some time. A month ago, the acquisition seemed to fall through, but Salesforce didn’t give up and reopened talks last week. As expected, this time an agreement has been reached.

Salesforce will pay eight billion dollars for Informatica. The market value of the new subsidiary had dropped below seven billion dollars, but the news that talks with Salesforce had resumed did not fall on deaf ears with investors. The company’s value had climbed back to $22.45 per share. Salesforce ultimately pays $25 per share.

Claire

What attracts Salesforce to Informatica can be summed up in two letters: AI. Almost everything Salesforce does is related to AI. Informatica developed its own AI assistant called Claire that helps companies transfer data between cloud and on-site systems. Big names like Unilever and Toyota use it, and the company also shares customers with Salesforce.
