HP introduces Enterprise Security Edition to increase physical security of enterprise devices. The security suite protects against physical attacks and provides visibility into potential manipulations.
The HP Enterprise Security Edition specifically focuses on protecting PC hardware and firmware from physical attacks and will be added to Wolf Security. In addition, IT administrators will gain greater insight through this solution into whether the device may have been tampered with throughout its lifetime.
The focus on physical security responds to the growing risks ofhybrid and remoteworking. Physical attacks are less easy for attackers to carry out than traditional remote attacks, but are often more targeted precisely because of this. For example, devices left unattended for short periods of time can be manipulated by malicious actors.

The suite includes several layers of security. A key component is Firmware Lock, a cryptographic lock that prevents unauthorized access to firmware. Platform Certificates ensure that companies can verify that hardware and firmware have remained untouched since production. The Sure Start Virtualization Protection solution, provides protection against malicious hardware or firmware connected via ports such as Thunderbolt or USB-C.

HP increases enterprise PC security against physical cyber attacks
According to HP, this approach can help counter physical attacks, which are often part of sophisticated campaigns such as industrial espionage or nation-state attacks. Manipulation of hardware and firmware gives attackers virtually invisible access to networks. This makes such methods attractive, despite the increased risks to criminals.
With the new security suite, HP aims not only to better secure the devices themselves, but also to help companies ensure the integrity of their hardware. This starts at manufacturing and continues through to the end of the PC lifecycle. This aligns with the growing need for tighter governance over hardware security, especially as supply chain risks become more prevalent.
The HP Enterprise Security Edition is available for specific business PCs. In this overview, HP shares which models qualify.
