Fortinet expands its OT Security Platform with new firewalls, industrial switches, and 5G solutions to better secure and safely connect OT environments.
Fortinet has expanded its OT Security Platform with new devices for securing operational technology (OT) environments. The announcement includes robust firewalls, industrial switches, and 5G solutions for secure connectivity.
Firewall and Switch
First and foremost, Fortinet is launching new robust firewalls as part of the FortiGate series. These devices are designed for OT environments where they may be exposed to challenging conditions. The firewalls work in conjunction with the FortiGuard OT Security Service. They offer protection against cyber threats through over 3,300 OT-specific security rules and nearly 750 IPS rules for intrusion prevention. They also support virtual patching for legacy OT systems.

Additionally, Fortinet introduces new industrial switches: the FortiSwitch Rugged 108F and FortiSwitch Rugged 112F-POE. These switches assist with network segmentation in industrial environments and enable the application of security rules per port.
5G Connectivity
For secure connectivity in OT environments, Fortinet is launching two new 5G solutions: the FortiExtender Rugged 511G and the FortiExtender Vehicle 511G. The former is a wireless 5G WAN gateway with an IP67 rating, suitable for external OT locations.
The latter is a 5G router with an IP64 rating, specifically designed for vehicles within industrial fleets. Both devices support Wi-Fi 6 and eSIM functionality.
Updates
In addition to the hardware expansions, Fortinet has improved its security operations (SecOps) solutions with new versions of FortiAnalyzer, FortiDeceptor, and FortiNDR Cloud, among others. These tools provide deep insight into OT security risks and assist with compliance reporting.
