Fortinet Integrates FortiAI into Complete Security Fabric

Fortinet expands its FortiAI offering to all components of its Security Fabric. The new AI capabilities are designed to help organizations detect cyber threats faster and automate security and network management.

Fortinet announces that FortiAI is now fully integrated within the Security Fabric. This is the name Fortinet gives to its overarching security platform. Since its launch, Fortinet has been steadily expanding the integration of FortiAI. With this new announcement, generative AI will permeate the entire offering.

The new features are aimed at improving both network management (NetOps) and security management (SecOps) through autonomous AI agents and GenAI technology. Fortinet groups them into three collections: FortiAI-Assist, FortiAI-Protect, and FortiAI-SecureAI.

Assist

FortiAI-Assist uses agentic AI and AIOps to automate management processes. Within NetOps, this means, among other things, that network configurations are automatically optimized without administrator intervention. The solution proactively detects network issues based on network data analysis.

In terms of SecOps, FortiAI helps to automatically filter and prioritize alerts based on risk assessment and historical context. The AI algorithms also independently perform threat hunting, and analyze network traffic and user behavior to detect anomalies. Additionally, according to Fortinet, the AI integration helps provide insight into the origin and impact of cyberattacks.

Protect

FortiAI-Protect includes AI-driven detection of unknown threats and provides control over the use of GenAI applications. The solution recognizes over 6,500 AI-related applications (and URLs) and provides security teams with context, such as training models used and data locations.

Organizations can control access to and use of GenAI through zero trust policies, including limiting shadow use of AI applications. Fortinet is also expanding its machine learning technology to more accurately detect malware and reduce false positives.

SecureAI

Additionally, FortiAI-SecureAI secures organizations’ AI infrastructure. The system protects AI models and data, prevents sensitive information from entering large language models, and applies privacy measures. Data is processed locally and personal information is masked.

Through this integration, Fortinet aims to address the growing demand for secure AI applications in business environments. The addition of FortiAI to the entire Security Fabric supports companies in protecting networks, data, and AI workloads against a changing threat landscape.

With this announcement, Fortinet also claims the right to state that it has integrated modern generative AI into its complete platform. In a hype-sensitive context, where no application is spared from AI injections, this is a convenient claim to make to customers.
