Orange’s fixed internet puts up best performance in Flanders

nPerf releases a study comparing the fixed Internet of Orange, Telenet and Proximus. In Flanders, Orange’s fixed Internet achieves the best results in upload speed and reaction speed. Proximus lags significantly behind its competitors.

nPerf releases a comparative report on the Internet speeds of various Internet providers. That report shows that Orange’s fixed Internet deserves the biggest kudos.

The Internet provider achieved the highest upload speed in Flanders compared to Telenet and Proximus. A maximum speed of 36.21 Mbps was measured. Moreover, the response speed of Orange’s fixed Internet is higher, at 17.44 milliseconds.

Orange does not deliver the best performance in all areas. Orange’s download speed has to significantly underperform competitor Telenet. While Orange delivers a speed of 151.13 Mbps, Telenet is the real speed demon with 173.50 Mbps.

Figures

The figures come from nPerf. The company offers an online service to check the speed of your Internet connection.

For the study, nPerf compared 8,391 test results taken between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2021. Just over half (52.9 percent) of the tests were taken by Telenet customers. 19.8 percent tested Orange’s fixed Internet.

Proximus far behind its competitors

Proximus’ results also include the Internet measurements of Scarlet customers. The two brands have been part of the same company for years. Late last year, Proximus, which is the parent company, decided to fully incorporate Scarlet into Proximus.

It is therefore not wrong to include the two Internet providers under one block. In all areas, Proximus’ performance in Flanders underperforms. Yet it is mainly the difference in download speed that stands out. A fixed Internet connection from Proximus provides a maximum download speed of 78.53 Mbps according to the measurements.

The Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications also criticized the poor state of Proximus’ fixed Internet.
