Your face could soon appear in fashion advertisements on Samsung smartphones if you want.
Samsung and AI company Glance are soon launching an AI shopping feature that uses photos from the gallery to display personalized fashion advertisements on your lock screen. The feature will appear on various Samsung smartphones in the coming weeks.
Model for a Day
Glance has previously implemented lock screen advertisements and news alerts on devices from Samsung, Motorola, and others. Now it’s going further: you take a selfie and fill in some body characteristics. Then, Google Gemini and Imagen create AI-generated images of yourself in various outfits and different locations.
The lock screen displays these images, and with one tap, you can buy the clothing in the photo. The service is entirely opt-in. Those who don’t open or set up Glance will simply retain the normal lock screen.
Privacy Concerns
According to the privacy statement, Glance retains your biometric data for up to twelve months after your last use, or until you delete your account earlier. The images would not be used or shared for other purposes without permission. Location and usage data is shared with partners, which, combined with AI images of yourself, does raise some questions.
Rapid deployment
The Glance AI app will appear in the Play Store, while Samsung rolls out the integrated lock screen via the Galaxy Store. This is happening from today for Galaxy S22, S23, S24, and S25 devices. Within thirty days, Glance aims to make the service available on even more Samsung models.
Those who want to can soon see themselves as a digital model on their lock screen.
