HPE and AMD Collaborate on Morpheus VM Essentials

HPE partners with AMD to expand Morpheus VM Essentials with support for the latest AMD Epyc processors.

HPE expands its virtualization platform Morpheus VM Essentials with support for AMD Epyc processors. The collaboration aims to help customers run their virtual machines more efficiently on AMD hardware.

HPE Morpheus VM Essentials is a vendor-agnostic platform for managing virtual machines. Organizations can use it to manage clusters, migrate virtual machines, and create backups. Thanks to the collaboration with AMD, customers can now also choose servers with 5th generation AMD Epyc processors.

More Efficient

According to HPE and AMD, these offer higher VM density and better performance with the same power consumption as Intel’s x86 alternatives. AMD further claims that their chips cost 28 percent less and use 27 percent less power over a five-year period.

HPE emphasizes that Morpheus VM Essentials operates on a per-socket licensing model. This should ensure predictable costs. The solution also provides unified management across HPE and VMware infrastructure. Customers can start with VM Essentials and later upgrade to Morpheus Enterprise. This version also supports multi-cloud environments and Kubernetes.

With Morpheus VM Essentials, HPE and AMD are targeting organizations looking to modernize their virtualization while preparing for the transition to hybrid cloud.
