Dell launches PowerStore 4.3 with more storage, security, and data management

dell

The latest version of Dell PowerStore offers higher storage density, advanced data protection, and smarter insights into file traffic.

Dell launches version 4.3 of the PowerStore storage platform. The update adds new capabilities in terms of storage capacity, security, and data management: the three keywords of the Dell portfolio. The software is available as a free update for existing users.

More storage per rack unit

The new version supports 30 TB QLC drives, allowing organizations to store up to 2 petabytes of data in just 2U of rack space. That means a doubling of capacity per rack unit. At the same time, it reduces energy consumption by up to 23 percent, which also has an impact on operating costs. Dell states that this can result in up to 15 percent lower TCO.

PowerStore 4.3 also offers additional data protection options. Synchronous replication via Fibre Channel prevents data loss. For situations where replication over longer distances is required, there is asynchronous replication with a recovery point objective (RPO) of up to five minutes.

Metro-synchronization with automatic failover ensures that no data is lost and for immediate recoverability. Multiple authorization should provide additional protection against unwanted system modifications.

New features for file management and monitoring

In terms of file management, PowerStore now supports NFSv4.2 with features such as Server-Side Copy, Sparse Files, and Labeled NFS. These improvements should simplify the management of large amounts of files. Also new is the ‘Top Talkers’ feature. This provides insight into which processes or users consume the most IOPS and bandwidth. This allows administrators to apply more targeted QoS policies.

The update further includes integrations with PowerProtect, support for partner ecosystems, and AI-driven detection of anomalous behavior in the data environment. The software is automatically activated upon installation, without additional license or installation costs.

PowerStore 4.3 is available immediately.
