Dell is bringing back the XPS brand for business laptops after replacing it with Dell Premium last year.

A year after Dell replaced the XPS naming with Dell Premium, the company is reversing that decision. That is why Dell is launching two new XPS models with the XPS 14 and XPS 16 that have a sturdy battery despite their thin housing.

During CES 2026, COO Jeff Clarke admits that the restructuring of the brand names did not work. Dell wanted to simplify its offering with labels such as Dell, Dell Pro and Dell Pro Max, but customers continued to stick with the XPS brand. “We didn’t listen, and that was a mistake,” Clarke acknowledges.

Focus on performance

Both XPS models run on Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors and use integrated Intel Arc graphics cards. According to Dell, this results in 78 percent better AI performance compared to previous generations. The laptops have three USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 and DisplayPort 2.1, and a 70Wh battery.

The ultra-thin design is striking: the XPS 14 weighs approximately 1.36 kilograms, the XPS 16 approximately 1.6 kilograms. Dell is also returning to a physical function key row and is scrapping the controversial touch bar with LEDs that previous models used.

Modular thought

Dell continues to focus on repairability and sustainability, with replaceable keyboards, modular USB-C ports and the use of recycled materials in hinges and batteries. OLED screens in 4K or lighter 2K LCD panels are optional.

“We want to increase our position in the premium laptop market with this,” says Clarke. Nothing has been said about European prices, but there is a chance that the laptops will become more expensive. In the US, they start at $1,650 (XPS 14) and $1,850 (XPS 16), writes Dell. Cheaper configurations are available from February, the XPS 13 will follow later this year.
