Eaton is revamping its 93PL G2-UPS so that data center customers can deploy the devices to participate in European balancing markets.
Eaton is renewing the EnergyAware capabilities of its Eaton 93Pm G2-UPS. EnergyAware is Eaton’s denominator for capabilities of its UPS devices to smooth peak data center consumption and return energy to the grid. The solution allows customers to choose how much capacity to re-provide, when and at what price.

Data centers can co-balance energy demand with Eaton 93PM G2
Data centers are large energy consumers, but they themselves have extensive power infrastructure in place. Examples include the aforementioned UPS systems, which represent large battery capacity, and emergency generators. By deploying that infrastructure, they can help balance the power grid.
Less peak demand
The Eaton 93PM G2-UPS can send power back to the grid when convenient, or just deploy some of the battery capacity to mitigate peak demand from the data center itself. After all, peaks are taxing the grid. In balancing markets, data center providers can also receive compensation for their contribution.
At Eaton, the Power Xpert 9395P and the 93PM are EnergyAware compatible. The devices allow data center specifiers to participate in European balancing markets in Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Switzerland, among others.
