Eaton launches Network-M3: Gigabit for UPS

Eaton is launching the Network-M3 network card. That card has embedded security that should detect hackers immediately, providing secure connectivity and management for UPS and PDU systems.

Eaton is introducing the Eaton Gigabit Network Card (Network-M3). That card succeeds the Network-M2 and, like its predecessor, carries security as a high priority. The network card is intended to provide Eaton’s own PDU and UPS systems with network connectivity, and is connectable via a Mini-Slot.

Security

The card should contribute to a robust network, booting firmware from a secure environment. Thus, in theory, criminals cannot tinker with the card. Furthermore, the Network-M3 has firewall functionality on board. This allows customers to protect the underlying electrical systems from unauthorized access via an additional layer of security.

Extreme speed is irrelevant given the purpose of this turns, so Eaton provides classic gigabit compatibility. The network card has UL 2900-1 and IEC 62443-4-2 certifications.

Finally, the new component integrates with Eaton’s Brightlayer custom data center solution. That provides administrators with insights about their infrastructure.

The Eaton-M3 is available immediately. The announcement follows earlier introductions this year, including a UPS solution for servers and small data centers, and another UPS for edge and office.
