Snowflake is expanding its platform with new features to help companies develop and deploy AI agents faster and more reliably. The launch includes the general availability of Snowflake Intelligence, enhancements to Snowflake Horizon Catalog and Openflow, and new developer tools for AI applications.

Snowflake Intelligence

The most important news is the general availability of the previously announced Snowflake Intelligence. This AI solution allows employees to communicate with company data in natural language. The tool helps users answer complex questions and generate insights without technical intermediaries.

The solution works with AI models from, among others, Anthropic and uses a new evaluation framework, the so-called Agent GPA (Goal, Plan, Action) Framework, to improve the reliability of answers. Snowflake reports that the system detects up to 95 percent of errors in standard tests.

Improved Data Access

Snowflake is simultaneously updating its data platform with updates to Horizon Catalog and Openflow. These features should make it easier to connect data from different sources and make it accessible to AI agents. New integrations with open standards such as Apache Polaris and Apache Iceberg ensure that data remains interoperable.

In addition, Snowflake is introducing a range of developer tools that accelerate the construction and deployment of AI applications. For example, Cortex Code, an AI assistant in private preview, helps users control the Snowflake environment via natural language.

The expansion of Workspaces with Git and VS Code integration should simplify collaboration between developers. Furthermore, companies can now build and maintain dbt projects directly within Snowflake.
