Apple is about to revamp Siri and turn it into a fully-fledged AI chatbot that is more deeply integrated into iOS, iPadOS, and macOS.
According to Bloomberg, Apple will present the new Siri in June during WWDC under the code name Campos, with a public release in September along with the next iPhone generation. It has taken years, but Siri should finally work like modern chatbots, with continuous conversations via voice or text. With this, Apple wants to close the gap with competitors such as Google and Samsung.
Phased Rollout
The upgrade will take place in two steps. In the first phase, Siri will gain more contextual insight, be better able to analyze information on the screen, and better search the web. The real leap will follow later this year with Campos, which will be part of iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. This version will be able to control apps and work more deeply with Apple services such as Mail, Photos, and Music.
Google as an engine
It is striking that Apple is relying on Google for the AI for the time being. The company would pay approximately $1 billion annually for access to Gemini models. A customized, powerful variant of Gemini 3 is used for this. However, Apple is keeping the option open to switch underlying AI technology later.
