A golden smartphone is coming that you can connect to the Trump Mobile network.
Donald Trump Jr. has introduced Trump Mobile, a new American telecom provider targeting “real Americans”. The only available plan is called The 47 Plan. Customers get unlimited calling minutes, texts, and data (with speed restriction after 20 GB) for $47.45 per month. The 47 Plan, along with its price, is a clear nod to Trump himself, the 45th and 47th president of the US.
More Expensive than Competition
Trump Mobile uses the networks of Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. Customers can use their own device with a Trump Mobile SIM card, or eventually choose the T1 Phone: an American smartphone with golden accents running on Android 15. The price is $499 and the device would be fully assembled in the US. However, the latter is doubtful.
The list of specifications is rather limited and a processor seems to be missing. There is a 3.5 mm jack present, something most manufacturers have stopped including years ago. Trump Jr. emphasized that the initiative responds to “a need among people who have been ignored for too long”.
Latest in a Long Line of Merch
The man has been president for less than half a year, but has already made quite controversial decisions. Trump introduced tariffs, and wanted to impose an import tax on chips made in foreign TSMC factories. Laptops and smartphones were ultimately left out.
Trump Mobile fits in the line of other commercial projects through which Donald Trump earned millions, writes Engadget. Those projects included crypto, sneakers, perfumes and even a bible. Whether his telecom venture will be just as lucrative probably depends on who enters the White House from 2028 onwards.
