Orange may stop offering products under the VOO brand name. Stores would also close.
Both marketing and product offerings under the VOO product name would disappear completely by September 2025, according to L-Post. The 13 stores will already gradually close when their leases expire. Employees can work at Orange stores. For existing customers, there would be no change.
Last year euphoria, now discontinuation of the brand
At the end of 2021, Orange was still exclusively at the negotiating table with the Walloon cable network. Telenet did not get that opportunity. Those negotiations proved successful, as Orange took over VOO in June of last year and received 75% of the shares. Orange thus emerged as a national telecom provider and proclaimed itself the market leader in gigabit Internet.
To further strengthen their offering, Orange is partnering with Telenet for fifteen years. The Mechelen-based telecom provider will have access to VOO’s Walloon networks, while Orange will be allowed to use its fiber optic network.
However, the VOO brand now appears to be completely phased out. What the impact of this decision will be on Orange and Telenet is, for now, still a matter of conjecture. Both Orange and VOO do not want to comment on the news for the time being.
