Microsoft is dispelling some false rumors. In fact, development of a new AR headset, the HoloLens 3, is still just on the schedule.
Development plans for the HoloLens 3 are still on the table at Microsoft. The lead developer of the HoloLens, Alex Kipman, was forced to make that clear again last week. Indeed, Business Insider released the news a little earlier that Microsoft is no longer making HoloLens 3. That news outraged fans, who tweeted worriedly to Microsoft and Kipman. According to Kipman, however, not everything that is being told on the Internet is true.
“HoloLens is doing great and if you search the Internet, they also said we were canceling the development of HoloLens2…. when I checked the other day, we had successfully released it,” Kipman replied to a worried fan.
No details
Kipman gave away no further details in his response, and Business Insider also received only a limited response to the report from spokesman Frank Shaw at Microsoft. “We remain committed to HoloLens and future development of HoloLens,” Shaw responded on behalf of the company.
The report did not just state that the HoloLens 3 will not happen. According to the report, Microsoft lacks a clear vision and its cooperation with Samsung is not going smoothly as a result.
In turn, the Wall Street Journal reported that Microsoft’s AR division is deflating. The report said that around 100 employees found a new employer, namely Meta. About that news, Microsoft also did not clarify.
