HP Employs Finovox to Combat Document Fraud

HP engages French software provider Finovox to detect fraud in warranty documents.

Companies worldwide are increasingly facing fraud. HP also sees a rise in fraud attempts, especially with warranty claims. Forged invoices, fake proof of purchase, and manipulated photos often escape manual checks or OCR systems. The emergence of generative AI only makes it easier to tamper with documents and make them appear genuine.

To be better armed against these practices, HP enters into a partnership with Finovox. The French player develops SaaS software that analyzes documents and compares them with companies’ internal data. The technology contextually reads data, detects visual manipulations, and analyzes metadata such as version history and software used.

Global Rollout and Expansion

Finovox’s solution was initially rolled out on a limited basis at HP in August 2024. HP now uses the software globally. The analysis of a document takes an average of thirty seconds, after which discrepancies become immediately visible. Elements such as serial numbers, barcodes, and customer data are automatically compared with internal databases.

HP indicates that the tool both confirms existing fraud cases and uncovers new attempts. The collaboration with Finovox has led to direct savings and faster decision-making in warranty claims. The company therefore plans to expand the software to other internal departments, such as customer services.

Finovox worked with HP to align the solution with existing processes. According to CEO Marc de Beaucorps, flexibility is essential in combating document fraud. New functionalities, such as direct communication via a built-in chat, are set to further strengthen the collaboration.
