SAP will make its Sovereign Cloud solutions available through the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.

SAP and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announce an expansion of their collaboration, focused on digital sovereignty in Europe. SAP’s Sovereign Cloud solutions will become available on the AWS European Sovereign Cloud, a new and independent cloud infrastructure being developed specifically for Europe. AWS is investing 7.8 billion euros in this initiative. The first region of this cloud will be launched in Brandenburg, Germany, at the end of 2025.

Regulated Sectors

This collaboration provides customers in highly regulated sectors, such as the public sector and financial institutions, with access to SAP’s business applications within a cloud environment that meets European requirements for data residency, operational autonomy, and resilience. Initially, SAP Business Technology Platform and SAP Cloud ERP will be available through this cloud.

Combining Compliance and AI Innovation

The expansion is part of SAP’s broader strategy around digital sovereignty, aimed at helping companies manage sensitive data, comply with legal requirements, and simultaneously leverage cloud and AI innovation. SAP’s Sovereign Cloud is already available on AWS in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Canada, and India. The addition of Europe to this list marks an important step according to both parties.
