Samsung showcases its long-awaited XR glasses Project Moohan at MWC. The headset is expected to be released later this year, although the exact date is not yet known.
MWC is the perfect opportunity for technology manufacturers to showcase their latest gadgets to the world. Samsung has a surprise this year. Hidden behind the Galaxy S25 phones and Galaxy AI, Project Moohan, the long-awaited XR glasses from the South Korean company, is on display. It’s the first time we can see the glasses “in the wild”.
Project Moohan is meant to be Samsung’s answer to the Apple Vision Pro. The glasses are a joint project of Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm to breathe new life into extended reality once again. The project didn’t proceed without hiccups: Samsung and Google reportedly clashed regularly during development.
Project Moohan: A First Look
Those interested and willing to endure long queues can briefly try on the glasses during MWC. Project Moohan, it’s not yet known if this will be the final name, adopts the “ski goggle design” of the Apple Vision Pro. However, Samsung has used much more plastic than Apple. This makes the glasses lighter and should also allow for a lower selling price than the Vision Pro.

In the Samsung-Google-Qualcomm triumvirate, Samsung has taken on the design. Qualcomm provides the chip: currently, it’s the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2. The plus sign implies an upgraded version of the processor that powers the Meta Quest 3.
The software is Google’s responsibility. The Project Moohan glasses will be one of the first devices running on Android XR, a version of Android tailored for smart glasses. Gemini will play a prominent role in the ecosystem.
A new hope
During MWC, however, we don’t learn more about Project Moohan’s launch plans. The glasses are reportedly coming to market this year, but Samsung provides no further information about the launch and price. The fact that a product is shown at MWC doesn’t necessarily imply a quick launch.
Project Moohan appears at a time when interest in VR, AR, XR, and related technologies seems to be waning again. Apple’s Vision Pro has not been an overwhelming success. This is also noticeable at MWC: two years ago, everything on the show floor revolved around the metaverse, but now every company mainly wants to show that it’s doing something with AI.
