Samsung is expanding its Galaxy A series with the Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G. Both models come with a higher price tag but also promise better performance.

Samsung is introducing two new mid-range phones: the Samsung Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G. These models succeed the Galaxy A56 and A36 that were announced last year. Samsung promises many improvements for these models, but on paper, we haven’t found these differences yet. What is immediately striking, however, is the large price difference.

The Samsung Galaxy A57 starts at 529 euros including VAT (entry-level model), while the A37 has a suggested retail price starting from 429 euros including VAT. Both models will be available in the Benelux from April 10 in various colors and storage variants.

More powerful

When we compare the Samsung Galaxy A57 to its predecessor (Galaxy A56), there are a few differences to note. Last year, the A56 was equipped with the in-house Exynos 1580, while the A57 now features the Exynos 1680. The Galaxy A37 is armed with an Exynos 1480, whereas its predecessor had to make do with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. In theory, the devices should therefore be slightly faster.

The drop and water resistance of the A57 has also been improved, receiving an IP68 rating compared to IP67 for last year’s A56. Furthermore, the A57 is slightly lighter and sleeker, weighing 179 grams compared to 198 grams for the A56.

Furthermore, the specifications for both the A57 and the A37 remain virtually the same as their predecessors, including a 5,000 mAh battery, a 6.7-inch OLED screen with a maximum peak brightness of 1,900 nits, and a similar camera.

AI and software features

The new devices run on One UI 8.5 and feature Awesome Intelligence, bringing AI functions within reach. Users can convert conversations to text using voice transcription in the Voice Recorder app. AI Select offers shortcuts for summarizing and editing content, while Drag & Drop speeds up file management.

Photo editing features include Object Eraser, Best Face, and Auto Trim. Additionally, Samsung is introducing Circle to Search with Google, allowing multiple objects in a single image to be recognized and searched simultaneously. The virtual assistants Bixby and Gemini ensure intuitive operation of the device and apps.

Both devices will be available in various versions from April 10. The A57 5G starts at 529 euros for 128GB and goes up to 769 euros for 512GB, while the A37 5G is available from 429 euros for 128GB and 519 euros for 256GB. All prices include VAT.
