Samsung confirms new Galaxy S flagship with Note features and a February launch

The official announcement is cryptic yet abundantly clear: the Ultra variant of the future Samsung Galaxy S22 will get a stylus and will be the spiritual successor to the Note series.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 is coming, that much is clear. The first leaks appeared months ago and in recent weeks the cadence increased sensitively. The smartphone manufacturer even posted web code online already pointing to an official launch on Feb. 9 and an availability date of Feb. 24.

All this information remains rumors for now, but Samsung does unload some pretty clear hints in a blog post with Dr. TM Roh (President & Head of MX Business Samsung Electronics). For example, Roh devotes a lot of space to the success of the Galaxy Note series and how the S Pen (the included stylus) inspired numerous people. He also emphasizes that “many were sorry that no Note device was announced last year. We have not forgotten how strongly you love this Note experience.”

He goes on to say that there will be an Unpacked event in February where the “most special S series device will be launched. The new generation Galaxy S combines the best experiences of our Samsung Galaxy into one ultimate device.”

Strong focus on Ultra variant

Finally, in his conclusion, he puts several words in bold including “own the night” pointing to improved night photography with the new cameras. In turn, the words ‘dominate the day’ point to a powerful battery or fast performance. Other buzzwords include “smartest,” “most sustainable” and finally he concludes that Samsung wants to rewrite the future of smartphones. The piece is full of puns referring to the Note series.

You would think that the entire Samsung Galaxy S22 lineup will get a stylus on board, but Roh’s final words banish that thought: “Get ready for the ultimate Ultra experience.” This detail makes it clear that only the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will get a stylus along with the greatly improved camera performance. Waiting for the manufacturer to drop an official invitation in our mailbox.
