New HP Zbook Fury Gets 18-inch Version and Nvidia Blackwell on Board

New HP Zbook Fury Gets 18-inch Version and Nvidia Blackwell on Board

The latest Blackwell chips from Nvidia are gradually becoming available, and Intel Arrow Lake and AMD Ryzen AI Max Pro are on the way. HP deems it high time to refresh the Zbooks.

HP is in the midst of transitioning from old to new names within its lineup. OmniBook and EliteBook were introduced last year, now it’s ZBook’s turn. The name remains, but a reset is taking place.

Each new model from 2025 onwards will get a G1 suffix with a letter indicating whether it contains an AMD or Intel chip. If you see G1a, it contains an AMD chip, while Zbooks with G1i at the end of the model number have an Intel chip on board.

Earlier this year at CES in Las Vegas, the HP ZBook Ultra G1 was unveiled with Intel or AMD on board, along with the renewed HP Z2 Mini G1. For more information about these two devices, you can find it here.

HP Zbook Fury G1i

HP’s biggest announcement within the workstation market is the new ZBook Fury G1i. If you’ve been paying attention, you now know that this workstation is only available with Intel. In addition to a 16-inch model, you can now choose an 18-inch screen for the ZBook Fury for the first time. According to HP, there has been a longstanding demand for a larger screen. The manufacturer claims that the screen bezels are narrow enough for the laptop to fit in a 17-inch laptop bag.

Inside, you can configure the latest Intel Arrow Lake processors and up to an Nvidia RTX Pro 5000 Blackwell mobile GPU. The renewed chassis can handle a TDP of up to 200 watts thanks to a thermal design with three fans (one more than traditional).

HP acknowledges that especially the 18-inch version is larger and heavier than the previous ZBook Fury, which was already an absolute monster of a workstation. Nevertheless, they are convinced that developers and other power users prefer an 18-inch screen, including the associated drawbacks.

Prices and availability are not yet known.

Z2 Tower and New Zbook Names

In addition to the ZBook Fury, the HP Z2 Tower G1i also receives a significant upgrade. The desktop workstation is now configurable with Nvidia RTX Pro Blackwell and Intel Arrow Lake and features a renewed design. At the front, there is up to 67 percent more space to draw in cool air. According to HP, the new design provides better cooling and quieter operation during heavy workloads.

Finally, HP is aligning all Zbook models this generation. Here’s what’s changing:

  • HP ZBook Firefly is now called HP ZBook 8. The new G1 models are configurable with the latest AMD and Intel chips.
  • HP ZBook Power will now be known as HP ZBook X. The G1 model is only available with the new Intel chips.
  • HP ZBook Ultra and ZBook Fury complete the lineup of mobile workstations

For desktops, everything is also being reset. There are no new names, but the 2025 models will all have G1 at the end.

Prices and availability of the HP Z2 Tower G1i and other new models are not yet known.
