Motorola is launching four new smartphones: the Moto g15, Moto g15 power, Moto g05 and Moto e15. The entry-level devices combine a bright display, improved camera capabilities and large batteries, with prices starting at 109.99 euros.
Motorola is adding four new scions to its Moto family of smartphones. Just before the holidays, Lenovo’s sub-brand is launching four new devices in the entry-level segment, with prices between 100 and 200 euros. However, the smartphones will not hit shelves until after the festivities.
New models in the Moto G series
The Moto g15 features a 6.7-inch Full HD display and stereo speakers that support Dolby Atmos. Thanks to Bass Boost, Motorola says the device produces deeper bass, although that won’t be all that bad on a budget smartphone. Photos can be taken with the 50 MP camera system that uses Quad Pixel technology for sharper images in low light. The battery capacity of 5,200 mAh basically allows for extended usage. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme, assisted by a rather poor 4 GB of RAM for the base model, which otherwise has 128 GB of storage. A version with 8 GB and 256 GB is ok available.
The Moto g15 power offers similar specifications, but stands out with a larger 6,000 mAh battery, good for up to 58 hours of use, according to Motorola. Like the Moto g15, this device features a Full HD display and a 50 MP camera. Motorola provides the same MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme CPU, standard 8 GB RAM and 256 GB (expandable) storage.

The Moto g05 is focused on entertainment and multitasking with a bright screen that offers a 90 Hz refresh rate. Stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos and the 50 MP camera system with Night Vision and Portrait mode are present. Just know that specs like megapixels don’t mean that much in this price range. The processor of this phone is the same, but the device is available in different variants. For example, you can choose between 4 GB and 8 GB RAM, and 64 GB, 128 GB or 256 GB storage.
Moto e15
The Moto e15 is an entry-level model with a 90 Hz display and Dolby Atmos sound support. The 32 MP Quad Pixel camera takes sharp photos, according to Motorola even in difficult lighting conditions. The device features up to 6 GB of RAM with RAM Boost for smooth usage. The Moto e15 runs on Android 14 Go Edition, a lighter version of the operating system.
Once again, the not so extreme MediaTek Helio G81 Extreme is under the hood as the processor. Motorola provides 2 GB of RAM which, in our opinion, is simply too little. The RAM boost to 6 GB is a small Band-Aid on a big wound, as that technology only converts much slower storage memory into fake RAM.
(Too) cheap
Don’t expect anything too wild from these devices. Dolby Atmos means little on a smartphone, and RAM boost implies that the device can use some of the ROM memory as RAM. That yields less speed than simply integrating enough RAM. Pixel binning has been known for quite some time and made its way from more expensive smartphones to mainstream devices. With RAM, Motorola is very sparse. We would stay away from the Motorola e15.
Motorola is resolutely aiming at the budget segment with the four smartphones. The Moto g15 and Moto g15 power will be available from Jan. 6, 2025, for 149.99 euros and 199.99 euros, including VAT, respectively. The Moto g05 and Moto e15 will follow in mid-February 2025, with suggested retail prices of 129.99 euros and 109.99 euros. The latter is an absolute rock-bottom price, for which you get very little.
