Google Docs now supports custom watermarks

Google Workspace

Those who often work with confidential documents or draft versions of texts can now conveniently mark them with a watermark in Google Docs.

Under Insert within Google Docs you will now find Watermark in the list. You can then put an image as a watermark over the document so it’s clear when something is confidential or a draft version.

You can upload your own image, or choose an image under the tab Google Image Search tab. After you choose an image, all that remains is the scale of the logo that you use to determine whether the text is visible small or large.

Since the new update, you can now choose text as a watermark. This makes it much more accessible, since you don’t always want to put a large image over your text. Watermarks are now also retained when you import or export files.

The update is rolling out for all Google Workspace customers and G Suite Basic and Business users starting now. Don’t see the feature yet? Only Rapid Release domains are being served today. Scheduled Release domains won’t start until Feb. 14.
