Smartphone manufacturer OnePlus expands its mid-range lineup with the Nord 5 and the Nord CE 5. The devices continue the formula: powerful specifications where it matters.
Two for the price of one: today OnePlus announces two new Nord smartphones: the Nord 5 and the Nord CE 5. It’s been five years since the Nord series was launched, and the fifth generation sticks to the formula: offering powerful specifications where it matters for a reasonable price.

Nord 5: Mid-Range Device with Premium Aspirations
The OnePlus Nord 5 boasts some impressive specifications. The large 6.8-inch screen supports a refresh rate of 144 Hz: a first for OnePlus that wasn’t even available on the flagship. The Aqua Touch technology makes the device easy to operate with wet or greasy fingers, though this isn’t a new feature for OnePlus screens.
Inside is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which should bring the Nord 5 in terms of performance up to the level of premium phones released last year. The Nord phones stand out with powerful performance within their class, and OnePlus wants to continue this trend. OnePlus introduces a redesigned, larger cooling system positioned closer to the processor to prevent overheating.
According to OnePlus, the 5200 mAh battery should last 1.5 days with “normal” use, or up to 10 hours of continuous calling. With an 80W SuperVooc charger from the brand, you’ll have a half-charged battery after twenty minutes. The Nord 5 uses a special charging technology to generate less heat during charging, allowing you to continue using your phone without issues.

In terms of cameras, the front camera gets an upgrade to 50 MP to match the rear cameras. This should lead to visibly better selfies in less favorable lighting conditions, preventing your skin from appearing ‘yellowish’.
Nord CE 5: Powerful where it Matters
The Nord CE 5 compromises a bit more on specifications but doesn’t compensates where it truly matters. OnePlus removes the word “Lite” from the name this year and wants to show that this isn’t a “Lite” smartphone. The MediaTek Dimensity 8350 gives the device more computing power than its predecessor.
The Nord CE 5 offers the same battery and charging capacity as the Nord 5. OnePlus also matches the main camera, though the Nord CE 5 makes do with a lesser wide-angle camera (8 MP) and front camera (16 MP). In terms of software, there are no differences between the Nord 5 and the Nord CE 5.
Mandatory AI
No smartphone announcement is complete without referencing AI. The characteristic notification slider is somewhat forcibly renamed to an AI Plus Key. This gives you access to AI functions at the press of a button.
