Getac Launches Rugged Tablet with Copilot+ Sticker
Getac F120 and V120

Getac expands its range of rugged devices and flaunts AI labels. The F120 is a Copilot+ computer in tablet format.

Getac launches two new rugged mobile devices for field use: the F120 tablet and the V120 laptop. Both devices are designed for sectors such as defense, utilities, and public safety, combining robust housing with AI functionality and larger screens.

First Rugged Copilot+ Tablet

According to Getac, the F120 is the first fully rugged Copilot+ PC in tablet format. The device meets all specifications for this category: a powerful NPU with at least 40 TOPS, a minimum of 16 GB RAM, and biometric security. Getac thus expands the niche offering of rugged Copilot+ devices.

The F120 uses the Intel Core Ultra 200V-series processor and has edge AI capabilities for tasks such as real-time image analysis and diagnostics. This makes the tablet deployable in mission-critical environments, such as in the field or in vehicles.

AI-ready Laptop

The V120 doesn’t get a Copilot sticker, but is marketed by the manufacturer as ‘AI-ready’. This device is a rugged laptop with a convertible design, meaning it can also be used as a tablet. This successor to the V110 has a larger 12.2-inch screen and is powered by an Intel Core Ultra 200H-series processor.

The laptop supports AI acceleration via an integrated Intel Arc GPU. Users can configure the device with up to 64 GB RAM and 2 TB storage, depending on their needs. We sometimes take a critical look at the concept of an AI PC, but for the target audience Getac aims to reach, local AI computing power can indeed be useful.

The rugged devices are intended to be taken to remote locations where network connectivity may not be available. In such cases, it’s not possible to call upon AI applications from the cloud, and it’s useful if they run locally on your device. The number of applications that effectively make use of this remains rather limited to date.

Sturdy and Mobile

Both devices have a 12.2-inch LumiBond screen with increased brightness for outdoor use: 1,200 nits for the F120 and 1,000 nits for the V120. They are lighter and thinner than their predecessors, despite the larger screen size.

Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and optional 4G/5G connectivity ensure reliable connections in the field. Thunderbolt 4 ports and hot-swappable batteries improve usability on the go.

The rugged build quality is underlined by MIL-STD-810H and IP66 certification. The devices continue to work at temperatures between -29°C and 63°C and are resistant to falls. The F120 survives an unfortunate drop of up to 1.8 meters, while it’s better not to drop the V120 from higher than 1.2 meters. Both devices can optionally be equipped for use in environments with salt spray or explosion hazards.

Getac targets these devices at professionals in sectors where reliability and mobility are crucial. The F120 and V120 will be available from October. We have requested pricing information from Getac and will add this when we receive a response.
