Windows Insiders with a Copilot+ PC powered by a Qualcomm chip can now try out Windows Search.
Microsoft is launching a new update for Windows Search on Copilot+ PCs. Windows Insiders who own a Copilot+ PC with a Qualcomm chip have the opportunity to try out the new Windows Search experience. Users with AMD- or Intel-powered Copilot+ PCs will have to wait a bit longer. Windows Search uses AI and the built-in NPUs on your PC, allowing you to search for files even without an internet connection.
Windows Search
Microsoft has published a new Windows 11 preview build for Insiders on the Release Preview Channel. The new Insider build includes an improved version of Windows Search that uses AI and special hardware to more easily find documents, photos, or settings.

Whether you’re searching in Explorer, Windows Search on the taskbar, or in Settings, by describing what’s in the document, Windows Search can easily find the file. This means you no longer need to remember file names, exact words, or file contents.
Moreover, these semantic indexing models use the built-in NPUs on your PC, eliminating the need for an internet connection to find what you’re looking for. “Thanks to the power of the 40+ TOPS NPU on board Copilot+ PCs, these search improvements work even when you’re not connected to the internet,” according to the company.
Copilot+ PC with Qualcomm
This new update is only available on Copilot+ PCs powered by Snapdragon processors. This enhanced Windows Search experience is being gradually rolled out to Microsoft Insiders. According to the company, PCs with AMD and Intel-powered processors will be able to test this new feature soon as well. The public rollout will take place during the April 2025 Patch Tuesday updates.
