Microsoft has begun testing a new “adaptive energy-saving mode” for Windows 11 users. Like the current power-saving mode, the adaptive mode will limit background processes to save energy, such as automatic updates or synchronizations. The only difference is that the adaptive power-saving mode is automatically turned on and off without affecting screen brightness.
Adaptive energy saving
“Adaptive energy saving is an opt-in feature that automatically turns energy saving on and off, without changing screen brightness, based on the device’s power status and current system load”, according to the Windows Insider team.

The current energy-saving mode in Windows 11 reduces screen brightness by 30 percent, although you can easily change this through settings. Furthermore, the feature typically disables transparency effects and stops apps running in the background. Automatic updates and synchronizations are also paused.

To manage your energy-saving settings, go to Settings > System > Power & battery.
Microsoft has started testing this feature in the Canary Channel. The new feature is expected to be available in Windows 11 later this year.
