Windows 10 users have been receiving repeated update notifications for days

A Windows 10 update is causing problems for some users. They get repeated notifications to install the update.

The KB5048239 update for Windows 10 is causing frustration for some users. Although the update installs correctly, Windows Update keeps reporting that the update needs to be run again.

What goes wrong?

A tech blog received emails from readers about the update, stating that although the update installed correctly, it was offered again and again for installation in Windows Update. Similar complaints are also pouring in on the official Microsoft forum.

The security update is intended for Windows 10 PCs that use Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE). WinRE is used to recover systems that stop booting properly. The update is 250 megabytes in size, but lack of storage space would not be a cause. What does cause the recurring messages remains unclear.

It was recently revealed that Windows 10 remains immensely popular even though the operating system will no longer receive support as of October. The number of users struggling with this endless supply of repeated notifications is probably quite high. At this time, no solution has been offered and Microsoft has yet to comment. For now, users have no choice but to ignore the notifications.
