Salesforce injects a series of new AI features into Slack and Slackbot, including reusable AI skills and an integration with the MCP protocol for collaborations with external apps.

Salesforce is bringing 30 new AI features to Slack and Slackbot. The most innovative and notable capabilities include reusable AI skills, which allow the AI agent to reuse previously created skills without you having to ask. Additionally, Slackbot now functions as an MCP client, enabling communication with external services (e.g., Agentforce). Slackbot can also operate outside the app and monitor desktop activities.

Reusable AI skills

New reusable AI skills allow any team to define a task once (input, steps, output) and execute it automatically at any time. Slackbot recognizes when a prompt matches a skill and applies it without being asked. What one person builds becomes the standard for everyone. Slack has its own library of skills, but you can also create your own variants.

Furthermore, Slackbot now acts as an MCP client, allowing it to communicate with external services such as Agentforce. Slackbot can now forward work or ask questions to Agentforce or any other agent or app in your enterprise. Employees never need to know which system handles which task. Just ask, and Slackbot finds the right path and gets it done.

The new features are available for Business+ and Enterprise subscribers and will be rolled out over the coming months.
