Poor digital experiences have a negative impact on employee job satisfaction, according to 62 percent of Belgian IT professionals. IT disruptions occur regularly and affect productivity. Investments in cloud tools and AI support are intended to improve the digital experience.
A recent study by TOPdesk shows that nearly two-thirds of IT professionals in Belgium find that poor digital experiences negatively affect employee job satisfaction. Employee productivity improves significantly when their digital tools are reliable and user-friendly. Despite the high impact of negative digital experiences, practice often lags behind these insights. A large number of organizations regularly struggle with IT disruptions.
The study, conducted among 6,000 IT managers in Europe, shows that 42 percent of organizations experience weekly IT disruptions, while ten percent deal with them daily. These disruptions include slow internet connections and login issues. Despite the challenges, there is a clear focus on improving the digital experience within organizations.
Improvements in digital employee experience
Nearly nine out of ten IT professionals indicate that their organizations are heavily committed to improving the digital experience. The focus is primarily on the use of cloud-based collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and Google Workspace. In addition, investments are being made in AI support, including chatbots and self-service portals, to optimize the digital experience.
IT teams are also investing in improved intranet and knowledge systems, as well as learning and development platforms. These initiatives are aimed at increasing the user-friendliness and efficiency of digital tools, which should ultimately improve the overall work experience for employees.
Collaboration between departments
Although technology plays an important role, collaboration between departments is crucial for effectively addressing IT disruptions. Many IT professionals believe that better collaboration between departments can resolve disruptions more quickly. However, a gap between IT teams and management often hinders this collaboration.
According to 58 percent of IT professionals, management has insufficient insight into the complexity of IT. This lack of insight can undermine the effectiveness of IT investments and reduce employee job satisfaction. Jarich Verachtert of TOPdesk emphasizes that a solid IT infrastructure is essential for an organization’s success and should not be seen merely as a cost item.
