Wake up with ChatGPT? OpenAI tests personalized morning briefings

OpenAI is testing a new feature in ChatGPT’s mobile app that provides users with personalized daily updates. ChatGPT Pulse is currently available as a preview for Pro users.

OpenAI is currently developing a new feature called ChatGPT Pulse. It provides users with daily personalized updates in the form of visual cards, based on previous conversations or connected applications like Google Calendar. With this, the AI company aims to position itself as a proactive assistant. ChatGPT Pulse is currently in testing phase but is already available in preview for Pro users.

Mind Reading

With Pulse, OpenAI aims to expand ChatGPT’s functionality from a question-and-answer model to a more proactive assistant. The feature delivers users a series of updates every morning in the form of visual cards. These cards contain information based on previous conversations, feedback, memory, and connected applications like Google Calendar or Gmail. Users can indicate which topics are relevant and receive tailored suggestions accordingly.

Examples of updates include travel information, healthy meal ideas, training suggestions, or reminders for scheduled appointments. When Pulse is activated, ChatGPT analyzes the available data overnight and compiles a daily selection based on this.

User Control

Users maintain control over what is displayed. They can provide feedback on each card, set preferences through the ‘curate‘ option, or disable certain integrations. The displayed information disappears at the end of the day unless it is saved or follow-up questions are asked about it.

The feature is currently in a testing phase. OpenAI is gathering feedback from early users to further improve Pulse. In a next phase, the company plans to roll out the feature to users of the more affordable Plus subscription. The ultimate goal is to make Pulse widely available.
