Microsoft Teams will soon launch an interpreter agent that lets you speak in another language in real time during online meetings.
Microsoft Teams is introducing a new interpreting feature that allows participants to listen to their conversation partner in another language. With AI-powered speech-to-speech interpretation, you can have your own speaking voice simulated so that it would really sound like your voice, but in another language. Microsoft did not yet announce exactly what languages would be involved. The company will release a public preview in early 2025.
Real-time interpreter
What would your voice sound like in another language? You’ll soon be able to try that out with the AI-powered interpreting feature in Microsoft Teams. If you have regular online meetings in various languages, this interpreter agent in Teams may come in handy. The AI-powered speech-to-speech interpreter creates real-time voice translations during your online meeting. The public preview of this interpreter agent will be introduced in early 2025.

More AI in Teams
In addition to the real-time interpreter agent, Microsoft is proposing several new AI applications in Teams. During an online meeting, presentations or files are often shared in chat. To process this information faster, you can ask Copilot in Teams to summarize and understand the visual content shared on screen, just like the transcript from the chat.

This allows you to quickly filter all the important points the files, without having to open them all. Furthermore, meeting transcription will soon support multilingual meetings, in up to 31 languages.
