Microsoft Teams will soon get a new feature that prevents users from taking screenshots during Teams meetings.
Microsoft is launching a new feature for Microsoft Teams that prevents users from taking screenshots during a Teams meeting. This is to prevent “unauthorized screenshots” of sensitive information from being taken. Currently, the feature is still in development. The rollout is expected in July 2025 and will be available in Teams desktop applications (Windows and Mac) and mobile Teams applications (iOS and Android).
Black screen
During Teams meetings, sensitive (company) information is sometimes shared. To ensure that users cannot save this, Microsoft is working on a feature that blocks screenshots during a Teams meeting. “As soon as a user attempts to take a screenshot during a Teams meeting, the meeting window turns black,” according to Microsoft in a new Microsoft 365 roadmap entry.

Of course, this does not guarantee that the privacy of a Teams meeting will be safeguarded. Users can still take a photo of a Teams meeting with their phone. Microsoft has not yet revealed details about the use of the feature. It is therefore not yet clear whether the option is automatically enabled, or if the meeting administrator can set this.
The rollout will start in July 2025 and will be available in Teams desktop applications (Windows and Mac) and mobile Teams applications (iOS and Android). “Users joining from unsupported platforms will be placed in audio-only mode to maintain the integrity of the meeting content,” according to the company.
