Windows 11, like Windows 10, will get smaller icons in the taskbar. The option is likely to roll out in November or December 2024.
Microsoft last week released a major annual update (Windows 11 24H2) of Windows 11 with numerous new features. Of course, there is still room for improvement with Windows 11, especially after the problems surfaced with the new 24H2 update. According to Windows Insiders at the Beta Channel, a new version is already ready. In it, it is possible to display smaller icons in the taskbar via a checkbox. The option was already available in Windows 10, but was removed for no apparent reason.
Back from the road
So soon in Windows 11, you will again be able to fine-tune your taskbar to your liking. You have the option to show the smaller icons always, never or only when the taskbar is full. The latter setting is not working properly at the moment, PCWorld knows. The option is especially useful if you want to free up extra screen space for other more important things.
Earlier this year, an unannounced update made the taskbar falter, crash and even disappear. Fortunately, Microsoft quickly acknowledged the problem and you can visit their support page. Microsoft is most likely rolling out the latest version in November or December. Whether Europe will get the update by then is not known.
