Google Docs has started rolling out 40 new templates to format documents.
Google is adding 40 new modern templates in Google Docs, it reports in a Workspace Update. The rollout may take up to 15 days. The new templates should make documents more visually appealing. That sounds similar to Canva Docs, which allows Canva to add visual elements to documents.
Saving time
The purpose of the templates is to allow users to save time because they do not have to compose the documents entirely by themselves. There is a wide range of different templates: from blog posts to an interview guide. You can open them with the Templates at the top of a new document, or by clicking on File then clicking on New, From Template Gallery.
Google says the templates include preset layouts and styles. They also use document tabs that provide better organization, and there are placeholders that users can replace with relevant info.
The templates are available to all users with a Google account, for Google Workspace customers and Workspace Individual subscribers. Google will add more options for templates in the coming months, reports The Verge.
