The ‘Find My Device’ feature on Android now also shows you the location of your contacts, provided they give permission.
Google is rolling out an update to the Find My Device feature on Android. Users can now not only find lost devices but also check the location of friends and family. Users can specify who has access to their location and for how long. This feature was announced last week but is now available to more users, reports 9to5Google.
Contacts’ Location

You can set who can access your location and for how long. Moreover, Google guarantees that location data is stored securely.

The live location of your contacts (who have granted access) is displayed on a map, regardless of which phone or tablet they are using. The locations are also displayed from Google Maps on iOS.

In the Android app, you will now see an extra ‘people’ tab at the bottom. This feature is currently only available in beta version. When you navigate to the tab, you’ll see a map with the live location of people who have shared this with you. This new version 3.1.277-4 of Find My Device is now being rolled out on Google Play.
