Commvault introduces Cloud Unity Platform, a central layer for data protection, cyber recovery and identity resilience in on-premises, hybrid and cloud environments.
Commvault introduces the Cloud Unity Platform, a new release of Commvault Cloud that brings together data protection, cyber recovery and identity resilience on one platform. The solution targets on-premises, hybrid and multi-cloud environments. The platform uses AI to detect risks, streamline policies and support recovery actions.
Challenges
According to Commvault, security and IT teams struggle with three converging problems. AI applications generate large amounts of distributed data and create additional attack vectors. At the same time, many organizations use separate products for backup, security and recovery, often without mutual integration.

On top of that, workloads run distributed across their own data centers, SaaS, private and public clouds. This makes it difficult to deploy one consistent resilience strategy across all environments.
With Cloud Unity, Commvault aims to centralize these components. The platform connects discovery, classification, access management, backup and recovery to each other, so teams get insight and control from one place.
Centralize
The data protection layer provides AI-driven discovery, classification and recommendations for security policies, including governance of data and AI access and continuous monitoring. Commvault builds on the acquisition of Satori Cyber for data access governance.

In the area of cyber recovery, the platform supports recovery processes with AI. The Synthetic Recovery function should enable organizations to selectively remove compromised data and restore only clean backups.
For identity resilience, Commvault expands its portfolio with functions to detect, analyze and reverse threats in identity systems, such as Active Directory. By combining identity signals with data and recovery information, the platform aims to expose suspicious patterns faster.
