Devices that have Windows 11 24H2 installed via CD or usb can no longer receive further security updates.
Another new problem has surfaced in Windows 11 24H2. After installing the October and November security updates, some devices are excluded from subsequent updates. This only happens in a scenario where you installed the patches manually, writes Microsoft, which added the bug to the list of known problems in Windows 11 on Christmas Eve.

If you installed the Oct. 8 or Nov. 12 security updates by CD, usb or other physical media, you will not get the December update. Microsoft currently advises against installing the October and November Windows updates manually. No problems occur if you installed the updates via Windows Update.
Microsoft is working on a solution to the problem and will share more information about it as soon as it becomes available. Users who install updates manually should check that the media used has been updated up to and including this year’s latest update (rolled out in early December) and reinstall Windows 11 if necessary.
The glitch affects only Windows 11 24H2. The last major update to Windows 11 was packed with bugs and glitches. Microsoft has had its hands full since October to get all the bugs out of Windows 11. Little by little, those are being fixed and Windows 11 24H2 is being fixed, but occasionally new problems like this one still pop up.
