Fortinet injects a new dose of generative AI into its security portfolio. The integration of FortiAI into FortiNDR Cloud and Lacework FortiCNAPP expands the playing field.
Fortinet is adding new generative AI functionality to FortiNDR Cloud and Lacework FortiCNAPP under the FortiAI banner. These integrations should accelerate threat analysis and simplify security investigations.
New integrations
Fortinet is expanding its FortiAI generative AI platform with integrations into FortiNDR Cloud and Lacework FortiCNAPP. These additions are aimed at supporting security teams in their day-to-day operations.
In FortiNDR Cloud, FortiAI helps security analysts gain faster insight into coverage of emerging threats and vulnerabilities, allowing them to more effectively respond to new attack techniques. FortiNDR Cloud provides automated analytics that give threat hunters instant insight into detections and observations that match their searches.
In Lacework FortiCNAPP, FortiAI simplifies the process for SOC teams to interpret notifications and take targeted action. Using natural language processing, security teams can easily assess the risk of notifications and receive step-by-step instructions to investigate and resolve incidents. In addition, FortiAI provides insight into how attackers may be able to compromise systems and helps create correct code for troubleshooting.
ChatGPT for security
The new integrations for FortiNDR Cloud and Lacework FortiCNAPP are part of Fortinet’s broader commitment to AI-driven security. FortiAI saw the light of day in 2020 and in recent years has become a “ChatGPT for security. Security experts can give instructions to the AI assistant in human language .
Fortinet has previously integrated FortiAI with several products, including FortiAnalyzer, FortiManager, FortiSIEM, FortiSOAR and FortiDLP. These AI integrations provide support for a variety of tasks, including threat analysis, configuration management, network troubleshooting, and managing high-risk data activity.
With this expansion, Fortinet highlights its strategy to use AI as a tool to support security teams and address cyber threats more efficiently. Today’s announcement follows barely a day after the announcement of FortiDLP: an AI-driven data loss solution. In doing so, the company aims to help customers streamline their security processes, make better decisions and become more resilient against increasingly complex cyber threats.
