The cybercrime platform LeakBase has been dismantled during an international operation. The platform served as a repository for data from hacked databases.
A large-scale cybercrime platform was dismantled during an international operation involving fourteen countries. This concerns the LeakBase platform, which is considered one of the largest online forums. Here, stolen data is shared, sold, or discussed. The platform has currently been taken offline. Meanwhile, one suspect has reportedly been arrested in Belgium, according to Europol and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.
LeakBase dismantled
“Among other things, LeakBase offered data from hacked databases, such as credit and debit card numbers, bank details, usernames and passwords, as well as other sensitive information regarding companies and individuals. This data could be used for various criminal purposes, such as hacking, phishing, identity theft, or other forms of cybercrime,” according to the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.
The platform has been active since 2021 and has since maintained an archive of all hacked databases. “In December 2025, LeakBase had more than 142,000 registered users, approximately 32,000 posts, and more than 215,000 private messages, underlining its scale and global reach,” according to Europol.
Fourteen countries
US authorities took the lead in the investigation in collaboration with thirteen other countries, including Belgium and the Netherlands. The international coordination of the operation was supported by Europol.
“Approximately 100 enforcement actions were carried out worldwide, including measures against 37 of the platforms’ most active users,” according to Europol. Furthermore, one suspect was arrested in Belgium.
