The hacker group Shinyhunters has published a portion of the stolen Odido customer data online.
A first batch of Odido customer data has become available on Shinyhunters’ dark web site, as first noticed by Tweakers. It reportedly involves a relatively small dataset of 9GB, containing one million customer records. The Dutch provider became the victim of a cyberattack earlier this month, during which 21 million lines of data were stolen according to the notorious hacker group Shinyhunters.
“We gave you (Odido) the chance to resolve this quietly and within a few days, but instead you chose to stall,” the criminals stated on their website.
‘Wrong choice’
The hacker group warned Odido a few days ago: “Make the right decision, you know where to find us.” The group demanded a seven-figure ransom. The provider was given until Thursday morning.
Odido stated in a statement that it will not pay any ransom. “On the advice of leading cybersecurity experts and relevant government agencies, Odido has decided not to negotiate with these criminals and not to be blackmailed by them. We remain fully committed to supporting and protecting our customers and employees in the best possible way.”
