Chrome on Android will soon be able to identify rogue APK downloads. The feature is currently being tested in Chrome Canary 133.
When you download files from the Internet, you always run the risk of getting malware that can harm your device or steal information. Google is now working on a feature for Chrome in Android that will be able to detect such rogue downloads. So Chrome on Android will soon be able to scan app installation files (APKs) for malware, according to MSPowerUser. Users can already test the feature in Chrome Canary 133.
Malware scanning
Google is currently testing a new feature in the Canary 133 channel that can scan APKs for malware. MSPowerUser discovered a test feature in this version that is disabled by default. The feature bears the name “Malicious APK download check,” describing it as Chrome checking APK downloads for the presence of malware.
