Check Point offers firewalls as a subscription, with no upfront hardware purchase

Check Point launches ‘Firewall-as-a-Subscription’. Organisations get the AI Network Firewall, threat prevention and management in a single subscription, with no upfront hardware purchase.

Check Point has announced its Firewall-as-a-Subscription programme. Organisations pay a fixed amount per month or per year instead of investing in hardware upfront. The programme builds on R82.20, the software version with which Check Point introduced the AI Network Firewall in July. It inspects AI traffic, protects AI applications and manages AI agents at network level.

Budgets under pressure

According to the company, organisations often postpone replacing their firewall because financing costs are rising and budgets are shrinking. The IANS Research and Artico Search 2026 Security Budget Benchmark shows that the median security budget did not increase this year. For 55 percent of CISOs, the budget stayed the same or fell.

64 percent of CISOs requested an increase, but only 45 percent received one. At the same time, AI means every network has to inspect more traffic. “Every organisation uses AI, and every organisation deserves the same level of protection, regardless of size or budget,” says Avi Rembaum, President Global Technical Sales at Check Point Software Technologies.

Subscription

The subscription includes the AI Network Firewall and Check Point Force Firewalls, whose size and price depend on the throughput the organisation needs. It also includes AI-driven threat prevention with SandBlast, which according to Check Point blocks 99.9 percent of zero-day attacks.

Security updates are applied through Live Updates without a restart or downtime. The cloud-based Smart-1 Agentic Management package handles management without extra on-premises infrastructure. Customers also get round-the-clock premium support, either direct or shared.

Check Point Global Services Flex Credits cover the migration of management from another vendor’s firewall, or other services from the company. The subscription runs for three years. During that period, customers can increase throughput at any time and switch to new hardware after 36 months.
