DNS0.EU has immediately ceased its services due to lack of resources. The DNS resolver was available in all 27 EU member states.
The European DNS0.EU has abruptly shut down its service. The brief
DNS0.EU only existed since 2023 and was managed from France by a non-profit organization. It was active in and had servers distributed across the 27 member states of the European Union. A DNS resolver like DNS0.EU translates human-readable domain names into numerical, machine-readable IP addresses, so browsers can load the correct internet resources. Usually you use your internet provider’s resolver.
Security was an important focus point for DNS0.EU. In addition to built-in GDPR compliance and end-to-end encryption, DNS0.EU also offered extra protection for underage internet users and against malware domains.
European Alternatives
DNS0.EU has immediately closed its books. The website was already taken completely offline, with the exception of a simple page with the announcement. It states that the service can no longer continue due to insufficient resources.
With DNS0.EU, a European provider disappears, but alternatives are ready to fill the void. NextDNS was founded by the same people, DNS4EU is co-financed by the European Union. Those who don’t shy away from American alternatives can also turn to Cloudflare, Google and OpenDNS, among others.
