During Computex 2025, Synology introduced its new flagship storage solution PAS7700, an active-active NVMe all-flash system designed for enterprise workloads.
The Synology PAS7700 consists of a 4U chassis with a dual-controller architecture that operates in active-active mode, thus ensuring fully non-disruptive service, from storage media, memory, and network to protocol stack. Each node supports up to 48 NVMe SSDs in U.3 format, and the capacity is scalable up to 1.65 petabytes of raw storage with seven expansion units. The system can be equipped with up to 2 TB of RAM (1 TB per controller) for cache and metadata.
In terms of connectivity, the PAS7700 offers a wide range of high-speed network options: four 100GbE ports, twelve 25GbE ports, and support for 16G Fibre Channel. This provides ample flexibility in enterprise datacenter environments.
Protocol and Software Support
The PAS7700 supports an extensive array of file and block protocols, including SMB, NFSv3/4 (including RDMA versions), iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NVMe-oF TCP, NVMe-FC, and NVMe-RoCE. This broad support makes the system flexibly deployable in heterogeneous IT environments.

The system runs on Synology’s DSM software with full support for enterprise data management features such as synchronous replication, immutable snapshots, 3-2-1-1-0 backup strategy, and hybrid cloud tiering. According to Synology, this ensures data integrity and availability down to the smallest details, which is crucial for sectors with zero downtime requirements.
Performance, Efficiency, and Data Management
Internal testing shows that the PAS7700 can achieve 2 million 4K random read IOPS, combined with a sequential read throughput of up to 30 GB/s. Such figures make the PAS7700 suitable for heavy workloads such as VDI environments, databases with an 80/20 read-write mix, and complex EDA simulations processing thousands of job sets.
Thanks to inline and offline deduplication, the PAS7700 achieves typical data reduction up to 5:1, allowing organizations to save significantly on storage space without performance drawbacks. The system also offers smart tiering integration with Synology’s GS, HD, and SA series for optimized storage of cold and archive data.
Furthermore, the system supports features such as RAID-TP, cache protection, power outage protection, and failover within five seconds without service interruption.

Availability and Market Position
Synology plans to release the PAS7700 in the first quarter of 2026. With this product, Synology targets businesses and sectors with strict SLAs for uptime and performance, such as product development, government services, and financial institutions.
The PAS7700 platform, together with the PAS3600 (Tier 2) and the existing RS, SA, and FS series, forms an integrated portfolio offering storage solutions.
