Nutanix, in collaboration with Nvidia, is introducing an integrated ‘AI Factory.’ The solution targets governments and organizations in highly regulated sectors.

The new solution combines infrastructure, software, and security components into a single integrated offering. It is designed to simplify the deployment of AI workloads in environments with strict regulations. Governments and companies aim to use AI for increased automation and more efficient service delivery.

Nutanix is one of many organizations preaching Nvidia’s AI gospel. Last year, both organizations already announced a deeper integration, and this partnership builds further on that. Nutanix’s philosophy is to bring all layers of the AI stack together in an integrated platform with predictable costs, whether customers run it on their own infrastructure or in the cloud.

Complex construction site

Setting up an ‘AI factory’ requires a thoughtful approach that proves technically too challenging for many organizations. With this term, you should essentially just imagine a supercomputer, but equipped with GPUs and optimized for AI workloads. The hardware and software stacks evolve rapidly at Nvidia’s pace. This makes it difficult to build a stable and future-proof environment.

Organizations often struggle with fragmented infrastructures. Additionally, data and workloads from various sources must come together securely. Each source has its own requirements regarding performance and security. In regulated sectors, additional obligations apply, such as compliance with data protection regulations, the use of encryption, and maintaining sovereign control over data and infrastructure.

Integration of infrastructure and (AI) software

The joint solution builds on Nvidia’s AI Factory for Government platform. Nvidia containers for government applications run on the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform and integrate with Nutanix Enterprise AI. This is intended to ensure consistent operation and simplified management.

The architecture includes hardened configurations, FIPS-compliant encryption, and continuous vulnerability monitoring. The Nutanix Kubernetes Platform can run on virtual machines and on physical servers. Virtual machines often remain the preferred choice in multi-tenant environments.

Nutanix also collaborates with hardware vendors to offer a complete package. This includes all necessary components for implementing an AI Factory. According to the companies involved, this should allow organizations to deploy AI workloads faster, with a focus on security, governance, and cost control.
