OpenAI’s AI video generator Sora is available in Europe. Customers with a ChatGPT subscription can get started right away.
After initially launching AI video generator Sora outside Europe late last year, OpenAI is now bringing the tool to the EU. Sora allows users to generate videos up to 20 seconds long in 1080p. The tool works like Dall-E: as a user, you surf to the portal website and describe a video. Sora then tries to generate it and uses OpenAI servers to do so.
Existing OpenAI customers will have immediate access to Sora. Those with a ChatGPT Plus subscription can generate videos up to 720p with a maximum duration of ten seconds. ChatGPT Pro users can take advantage of the full functionality.
Credits
Sora works on a credit basis. Plus users get 1,000 credits per month, Pro users 10,000. With the basic settings (480p, 5 seconds of video), it costs 50 credits to generate one video. Sora then creates two versions to choose from. You can edit videos after creation, such as merging them or reworking them into a loop. Before you perform an edit, you can see the cost in credits each time. Hover over the question mark next to each prompt to see how many credits an action will need.

If you choose to generate only one 480p video each time, with a length of 5 seconds, then you pay 25 credits. If you change the format from 16:9 to 1:1, that becomes twenty, so you can generate 50 videos per month with a Plus subscription.
Film Noir
Sora provides presets for the style, such as Film Noir or Whimsical Stop Motion, but you can also describe what you want yourself. Furthermore, OpenAI allows you to use your own photos or videos as base material for AI creations. You can upload files, and then describe exactly what you want. OpenAI points out for that feature that Sora is a powerful tool, and should be used responsibly.

Created videos are saved in your account, where you can always access the two versions suggested by Sora. You can download the videos, either as a video file or as a gif.
Sora is available exclusively to subscribers. There is currently no free version. To get started, surf to Sora.com, where you can log in with your OpenAI account.
